Dahlia KA's® Cloud' 1 tuber
Dahlia KA's® Cloud' (limited quantity) is a refined variety with a soft pink hue and pearly shimmering flowers. The large, airy flowers (22–25 cm) with slightly cupped petals create an elegant and romantic look. This variety blooms abundantly and forms long, sturdy stems, making it perfectly suited for cut-flower growing. The variety was created in 2015 by Kristine Albrecht (Santa Cruz Dahlias™, USA), and it received an award for its beauty at the Lane County Dahlia Show exhibition in Oregon. The variety is protected by breeder’s rights.
Dahlia tubers are planted outdoors in a bed after the last frosts, usually in May. If you want flowering to start earlier, you can begin waking the tubers in March and April by placing the tubers in a pot and keeping the pot indoors. The tubers will start producing new shoots; after that, the developed plants can be transplanted outdoors when there is no longer a risk of frost.
In autumn, the tubers are dug up and overwintered in a box in the cellar or another cool place.
