Purple tansy (Phacelia tanacetifolia Benth)
Purple tansy (Phacelia tanacetifolia Benth) - A plant rich in nectar, which blooms with violet-blue colored flowers. During the flowering phase, phacelia releases up to 0.5 t/ha of nectar. It starts blooming in mid-June. Depending on the growing conditions, a single stem can have up to 50 inflorescences, and each inflorescence – up to 70 flowers. Blooms for a long time, even 30–50 days. During the flowering period, from early morning to late evening, the crops are abundantly visited by bees.
Best suited for moderately heavy, fertile soils. After phacelia, vegetables and herbs grow excellently. Can be sown from early spring until the end of summer. Phacelia that has been grown in the same area for several years self-seeds. Such seeds germinate significantly earlier, grow vigorously, and start blooming earlier than sown seeds.
