Medicinal melilot (Melilotus officinalis) - an herbaceous plant of the legume family, capable of fixing nitrogen in the soil. Its strong root system makes the soil loose. An undemanding plant, suitable for cultivation in any conditions except complete shade. It blooms with lemon-yellow flowers and emits a sweet fragrance, attracting bees and other beneficial insects.

Widely used in folk medicine and cooking. Fresh melilot leaves can be used in salads. Dried stems with flowers can be used as a spice for making cheese.
