Coleus 'Colocha Scarlet' (Coleus blumei), 20 seeds
Coleus 'Colocha Scarlet' (Coleus blumei / Solenostemon scutellarioides) – another common name is painted nettle. A decorative plant with leaves in orange and pink shades. Reaches a height of 35–50 cm. Prefers partial to full sun, but should be protected from direct midday sunlight. Grows well in nutrient-rich, well-drained soil. Sow indoors 8–10 weeks before the last frost, lightly covering the seeds with soil. Germination requires 20–22°C and consistently moist soil. After frost, can be transplanted to beds, pots, or balcony boxes. When the plant reaches 10 cm, pinch the top to encourage branching.
Overwintering: Before the first autumn frost, transplant the plant into a pot and bring indoors to a bright, warm location (+15–20 °C) with moderate watering.
Propagation: Coleus is easily propagated from cuttings. Take a healthy 10 cm stem cutting and place it in moist soil or a glass of water until roots develop.
Care: Regularly pinch the tips to encourage branching and fullness. Provide a bright location but avoid prolonged direct hot sun. Water consistently, avoiding overwatering.
