Broccoli 'Quarantina' (Brassica rapa sbsp sylvestris) - an Italian variety, one of the earliest broccoli varieties, as it reaches maturity about 40 days after being planted outdoors. Due to its short growing period, this variety was named Quarantina, which means “forty” in Italian. An upright plant with green, small, elongated leaves. Produces many small, very tender-flavored broccoli heads, which can be harvested gradually over several weeks. Edible even during flowering, so there is no need to worry about the broccoli blooming in the summer heat. The whole plant is edible - stem, leaves, and heads. Sow from April to the end of May, plant outdoors from May to early July. Plant in nutrient-rich soil. At the beginning of growth, sufficient nitrogen is needed for head formation. Later fertilization is not necessary.
