Zucchini ‘Striato d’Italia’ (Cucurbita pepo)
Zucchini ‘Striato d’Italia’ (Cucurbita pepo) - an old Italian variety, also known as 'Naples Striped', distinguished by slender, dark green fruits with light stripes. The flesh is tender, juicy, and aromatic, especially suitable for fresh use, grilling, and light thermal processing. The plant is productive and vigorous, grows best in full sun, in fertile, well-drained soil, and regular harvesting promotes continuous fruit formation throughout the season. It is recommended to harvest young, non-overgrown fruits.
Sow directly in the ground at the end of May/June or in seedling trays at the beginning of May, plant outdoors after the last frost. Seeds germinate easily starting from 18°C, sprouting within 7-10 days. Water mature plants regularly, but avoid watering the center of the plant, as this can promote mold.
