Common marigold ‘Orange Flash’ (Calendula officinalis) – a prolific flowering variety with warm orange to copper-orange blooms, often semi-double to fully double. The underside of the petals is usually darker, creating a striking colour contrast and a beautiful sense of depth. Forms compact, bushy plants with strong stems, ideal for borders, beds, pots and cut flower arrangements. Blooms for a long period – from early summer right into autumn – and attracts pollinators such as bees, bumblebees and butterflies. Typical height 50–70 cm. Thrives in full sun and well-drained, moderately fertile soil.
Sow directly outdoors in spring or start in trays and transplant later. Germination usually takes 10–14 days.
