Common zinnia ‘Oklahoma Salmon’ (Zinnia elegans)
Common zinnia ‘Oklahoma Salmon’ (Zinnia elegans) is a hardy, free-flowering variety with beautiful, densely petaled blooms in soft salmon and warm peach tones. Flower diameter 4–5 cm. It produces strong stems and is especially suitable for cut flowers – the ‘Oklahoma’ series is bred specifically for professional cut flower growers and holds well in the vase. Blooms continuously from mid-summer until frost, attracts butterflies and pollinators, and tolerates changing weather conditions well.
Sow indoors 4–6 weeks before the last frost or direct sow outdoors after frost. Lightly cover the seeds with soil. Germination takes 7–14 days at 20–25°C. Zinnias prefer full sun and well-drained soil. Water regularly, but avoid waterlogging. Deadhead spent flowers or cut blooms for the vase to encourage continuous flowering.
