Texas hummingbird mint ‘Heather Queen’(Agastache cana), 10 seeds
Texas hummingbird mint ‘Heather Queen’ (Agastache cana) has soft rose-pink flowers with a subtle shine. The plant often self-seeds in autumn. It is heat- and drought-tolerant, forms a strongly branched habit, attracts pollinators, and flowers for a long period. Although agastache is technically a herb with leaves that have an anise-like flavor, this variety is usually grown for ornamental purposes because it blooms very abundantly and attracts beneficial insects.
Sow seeds indoors 4–6 weeks before the last expected frost. Transplant outdoors when the seedlings are at least 10 cm tall. If sown directly outdoors, flowering will begin later than with indoor sowing. Seeds can also be sown directly in autumn; they will germinate naturally in spring when conditions are suitable. Best grown in full sun, though it will tolerate light shade. Prefers fertile, well-drained soil.
