Thai basil (Ocimum basilicum var. thyrsiflora) 0,1g
Thai basil (Ocimum basilicum var. thyrsiflora) – an aromatic, heat-loving herb with a pronounced, spicy aroma featuring notes of anise, cloves, and a hint of licorice. Unlike classic basil, Thai basil retains its aroma even during heat treatment, which is why it is especially popular in Asian cuisine – in wok dishes, curries, soups, and noodle dishes. The plant develops dark green leaves with purple stems and purple flowers, making it decorative and productive.
Sow seeds shallowly or on the surface, as light is required for germination. It is recommended to sow for seedlings indoors or in a greenhouse, later transplanting to a sunny, warm location. Germination usually occurs within 7–14 days. Thai basil grows well in fertile, light, and well-drained soil with regular watering. Regular pinching of the tops promotes bushier growth and the formation of aromatic leaves. Can be grown both in beds and in pots on a balcony or terrace.
