Canary grass (Phalaris canariensis) 1g
Canary grass (Phalaris canariensis) – an annual ornamental grass with upright, slender stems and dense, oval-shaped inflorescences. Gives flowerbeds a wild appearance. Suitable for both flowerbeds and for use in cut and dried flower arrangements.
Sow seeds directly outdoors in spring when the soil has warmed up, or grow seedlings for an earlier harvest. Sow at a depth of 1–2 cm; germination usually occurs within 7–14 days. Canary grass grows best in a sunny location, in light to moderately fertile, well-drained soil. The plant is hardy, does not require complicated care, and tolerates short-term drought well. Regular watering promotes even growth and higher quality inflorescences.
